North Knight Software

DalCAB

When Dalhousie University's Dr. Beverly Butler first contacted North Knight Software, she was currious to see if we could construct a package of specific psychomotor tests. After meeting with her and going over the project requirements, we realized that each of the tests she specified shared commonalities with many other tests used in psychological research. Because of this, we decided to construct a flexible framework which would allow us to easily create the required tests, as well as any future psychomotor tests which may be requested.

The framework allows us to rapidly develop cross-platform psychomotor tests of all varieties. It also provides a common method of gathering data so that runs from different tests can more easily be compared. The framework was built with an OpenGL interface, so tests can be as graphically interesting as required.

At the end of the process, the researchers were given the source code along with documentation which described how the framework functioned. This means that they can create their own tests using the framework in the future.

Testimonial from Dr. Butler

The programmers at North Knight were very receptive to my programming request and I recommend them without reservation.

They were knowledgeable and efficient at every stage of the process, from the initial planning meeting, to providing me with the first draft of the program, to responding to feedback and making the revisions that I requested. They responded quickly to my initial inquiry, met me at my place of work, listened carefully to my ideas, and treated me with respect. I was immediately put at ease by their informal professionalism and felt confident that my ideas were understood and would be translated into the finished product that I had imagined.

In the end, I have a program that looks and works even better than I had hoped because of the expertise and support of the North Knight programmers.
